Program a Gaming Mouse for CAD

E-on Offers Free Trials of LumenRT Studio and GeoDesign 2015
E-on software is offering free, 30-day trial versions of LumenRT Studio and GeoDesign to those who create an E-on account. The trial versions are fully functional, but have a limited content library and watermarked output. Trial versions are not valid for commercial use.

ZWSOFT Provides Free Trial of New Architecture Software
ZWSOFT is offering Microsoft Windows users a free trial of ZWCAD Architecture 2015. The DWG-format software includes the same functionality of ZWCAD+, plus content libraries and tools designed for architectural drawings. An intelligent layer management system automatically places items on the correct layer and applies color and linetype as a drawing is created, the company reports.

Free Trial of ZWCAD Mechanical 2015 Available for Download
ZWSOFT is also offering a free trial of ZWCAD Mechanical 2015 to Microsoft Windows users who register. New features include graphic style configuration, more than 220 new ISO and DIN standard parts, new ribbon icons, and more. ZWCAD Mechanical supports ISO, ANSI, DIN, JIS, and GB drafting environments.

CGTrader.com Launches 3D Robot Challenge
CGTrader.com, an online community and marketplace for 3D graphics and 3D printing, has launched a 3D Robot Challenge for its community of more than 120,000 3D designers. Participants are asked to design the robots of the future and upload their 3D models to CGTrader.com. Entries must be submitted by February 15, 2015.

Cloud Invent Offers Alpha Version of AutoCAD Solver
Start-up company Cloud Invent is looking for AutoCAD users to try the preview version of its Cheetah Solver plugin for AutoCAD. Users reportedly can switch back and forth between the built-in parametric solver of AutoCAD and Cheetah Solver, which the company claims is faster and more robust. Cloud Invent welcomes all feedback.

ZW3D Design Challenge 2014 Winners Announced
ZW3D announced the final results of the ZW3D Design Challenge 2014. The first prize went to Remus Pacis for a food mixer design. The contest required contestants to use ZW3D CAD/CAM software to design appliances and render them in KeyShot. Winning entries were chosen based on factors including model skills, originality, manufacturability, and application of ZW3D's features.

GIS Conference Issues Call for Presentations
Oregon and Southwest Washington URISA, Washington URISA, and ASPRS invite users to submit an abstract of no more than 300 words by February 9, 2015, for the 2015 GIS in Action Conference, to take place May 4–6 in Vancouver, Washington. Abstracts submitted after February 9 will be accepted, but those submitted by the deadline will be given first consideration.

3D Printing: Rhino3DPRINT 2015
MecSoft has released Rhino3DPRINT 2015 software for the 3D printing industry. The fully integrated, separately licensed plugin runs inside the Rhinoceros 5.0 NURBS modeler. It includes tools for the preparation of 3D data, such as point clouds and meshes, that otherwise cannot be 3D printed, according to the company.
