This Week's Software Tips

Lynn AllenVideo Tip: Ensure That Your AutoCAD Text Is Readable
We certainly want the text in AutoCAD to be at an angle that is easy to read — but what is the fastest way to make that happen? In this video tip from Cadalyst and Lynn Allen, you’ll see how to quickly make your text readable for everyone with the handy TOrient Express Tool. This tool works on text, mtext, attribute definitions, and attributes within blocks. Watch the video

Know When to Freeze Layers and When to Turn Them Off
Scott Lawson wants AutoCAD users to know that freezing and turning off layers have different effects. "Most CAD users are familiar with how the Freeze/Thaw and On/Off commands work, but probably don't realize what their differences are." View the complete tip and post your feedback.

Create a Filter for All Layers Except Xref Layer
Michael Partenheimer shares this tip for managing your AutoCAD layer list. "I prefer a more elegant way to filter non-xref layers on the Layer Properties Manager palette than selecting xref and the Invert filter checkbox." View the complete tip and post your feedback.

Inventor Tip: Keep Your Detail View Attached to the Base View
David Gaskill offers this tip for keeping your detail view and your base view attached in Autodesk Inventor. "Sometimes when you create a detail view and then later move the base view that the detail is associated with, you find that your detail view is not where you expected it to be." View the complete tip and post your feedback.
