Clear Out Junk Files with Wise Disk Cleaner

11 Apr, 2012 By: Robert Green

This free utility will help you remove all those old system files and temporary Internet files cluttering up your computers.

If you often have to perform maintenance on computers, as I do, you likely have a few favorite utilities for the task. One such utility I've become very fond of is Wise Disk Cleaner 7 from

Wise Disk Cleaner does a great job removing that extraneous garbage that builds up on machines over time, thereby freeing up a good bit of space. The basic version of the utility is free, although it will prompt you to buy a professional version each time you use it.

Wise Disk Cleaner catches many things that I normally wouldn't, including:

  • temporary Internet files for alternate browsers, such as Chrome and Firefox.
  • files left over from incomplete uninstall operations (using the Advanced Cleaner option).
  • abandoned system files (using the Slimming System option).
  • old downloaded system update files.

Best of all, the utility scans quickly, then deletes files to the Recycle Bin in the background, so I can continue working on the machine while Wise Disk Cleaner does the cleaning for me.

If you ever have to rescue machines from viruses or malware, or do routine maintenance on slow machines, Wise Disk Cleaner is a great addition to your bag of tricks. I highly recommend downloading the free version onto your memory stick stocked with emergency files so you'll be ready when you need it.
