To start, create and configure on the SQL server the Microsoft SQL instance AECATALOG. Note that the Microsoft SQL version should be 2008 or later.
Next, install Autodesk Content Migration Utility, which is not installed by default. Select “Install Tools & Utilities” in your installation wizard and Install “Autodesk Content Migration Utility.”
Select Content Migration Utility from Start – Autodesk menu.
In the Content Migration Utility dialog box select “Create and Migrate Database.” In the “Established Connection” dialog box, login to Microsoft SQL. In the “Database Details” define names for SQL BOM and Footprint databases. In the “Select Data to Migrate” field, provide the path to legacy Microsoft Access Databases (Default_Cat.mdb and Footprint.mdb) that you would like to migrate to Microsoft SQL Databases.
Open AutoCAD Electrical 2017 and select “Config Catalog Database” on the Project tab. In the “Config Database” dialog box, select the Microsoft SQL Server option. Select SQL Server link — SQL instance and click “Connect.”
To check if you are using SQL DB mode, look at Project Custom Settings.
