PTC Live Global: Five Simulation-Focused Presentations

PTC’s largest education and networking event takes place June 4-7 in Nashville, TN. At PTC Live Global, among the 330+ sessions led by 150+ presenters from organizations of all sizes, you’ll find five simulation-focused talks you won’t want to miss.

Put these presentations on your agenda for early June:

Ask the Experts: Design and Simulation Products

6/8/2015 5:00 PM-5:45 PM

Russell Hsu, PTC; Brian Thompson, PTC; Moshe Baum, PTC; Marc Schuetz, PTC; Raphael Nascimento, PTC; Don Breda, PTC

This interactive panel discussion is always an exciting and educational presentation. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to bring your questions before an exclusive panel of PTC’s MCAD Experts. Do you have questions about the PTC Creo core design apps? This is your chance to get the answers. Attendees will have access to PTC Creo product managers to answer any questions you have.

Be Ready to Produce Production Parts Prior to New CNC Machine Delivery

6/9/2015 11:00 AM-11:45 AM

Brad Brannan, CGtech

Most of the leading companies utilizing CNC machinery, regardless of the industry, already use digital manufacturing technology to improve their NC machining processes. But most companies don’t realize that some of their existing technology can be utilized even before a new CNC machine has been delivered.

When a company purchases a new CNC machine tool, the process is usually chronological: a specification of the requirements is created, a machine is selected, and after negotiation a delivery date is set. Once the machine is delivered, the shop then begins the process of creating new part programs and running first part prove-outs. By the time the post-processor is fine-tuned and production parts are being produced, many valuable months have passed.

Why attend?

The presenter will use real-world examples to demonstrate how NC simulation software can significantly shorten the time it takes to get from the initial machine selection to production parts. Using case-study examples, attendees will learn how other manufacturers get new machines up-and-running quickly by completing several implementation steps concurrently. Specific features of the NC verification, simulation and optimization software that are required to establish total confidence in the offline prove-out process will be discussed.

Embedded Platform for Simulation-Driven Design of Plastic Parts in PTC Creo

6/9/2015 5:00 PM-5:45 PM

Most of the manufacturing defects in injection molding could be resolved more efficiently at early design stage. However, due to the unpredictable behavior of molten plastic, common defects, such as weld lines, short shots, sink marks, voids, and warpage, are often discovered at later stages of part design. Some may even try to correct these defects with trial-and-error method after the mold is already built, which is not only time-consuming but the outcome is also humongous.

It is obvious, design changes in the early stages cost less and lead to greater improvements on manufacturability. PTC Creo Mold Analysis is fully-embedded in PTC Creo environment to provide a fluent workflow during the part design optimization through efficient design-simulation iterations.

“Moldex3D eDesignSYNC for PTC Creo” provides PTC Creo users a fully-embedded and extended environment to further evaluate the detailed runner and cooling system design of the entire mold. The simulation capability also supports advanced processes, such as multi-cavities, insert molding, sequential valve gate control, advanced hot runner. Users can directly examine from the simulation results without switching platform.

Many tools are provided for higher usability. For example, mesh engine can generate 3D mesh automatically, thus requiring no additional training or CAD conversion. Also, remote computing and parallel process can speed up the calculation, and Machine control panel interface allows users to conveniently set up process condition. In this presentation, the presenter will demonstrate how to discover the possible defects in the early design stage by using eDesignSYNC and PTC Creo Mold Analysis. The presenter will also show how it will improve the product quality by changing the geometry with PTC Creo. Finally, attendees will see how dramatic improvements can be achieved by slightly revising the original design.

PTC Creo Simulate Roadmap

6/10/2015 9:15 AM-10:00 AM

Mark Fischer, PTC

Attend this presentation to hear an overview of the latest enhancements included in PTC Creo Simulate 3.0; such as sliding contacts with friction and fracture mechanics. Not just for analysts, PTC Creo Simulate enables designers and engineers to discover and fix issues early in the design process reducing costly late-stage changes. Attendees will also gain insight into PTC’s simulation roadmap for future releases.
